Dr. Chou is a licensed clinical psychologist in the State of California. She received her doctoral degree (Psy.D.)and Master’s degree (M.A.) in clinical psychology from California School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Chou completed her Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in cognitive psychology and minor in education at University of California, Irvine. Dr. Chou is a certified provider for The Program for Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS) by UCLA. 

 

Dr. Chou formerly worked as a staff psychologist in higher education settings including Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) and University of California, Riverside (UCR). At Mt SAC, Dr. Chou currently serves as a behavioral consultant to Puzzle Project, a workshop focuses on social skills building for college students with a diagnosis of ASD. Dr. Chou works closely with the disability departments on campus to advocate for her clients' special needs to be successful as college students.  As a former international student, Dr. Chou is also involved with the international student program at Mt SAC to provide mental health workshops and one-on-one support to international students. In addition to her professional involvement in the higher education settings, Dr. Chou has worked with clients in various settings, including school-based mental health clinics, home-based programs, community mental health centers, private clinics, and nursing homes. She works with clients of all ages with a variety of life challenges and issues. She practices from eclectic therapeutic approach to better address her clients’ presenting problems and needs. Dr. Chou prefers to work collaboratively with her clients to identify therapy approaches that is most effective and appropriate for her client’s cultural background, personality, and beliefs.

 

Dr. Chou also works closely with local school officials to advocate for students of special needs, victim of bullying, and emotionally disturbed students. She works collaboratively with probation officers and legal representatives to evaluate and provide court-ordered counseling to individuals. Dr. Chou conducts comprehensive psychodiagnostic evaluations which includes detail written reports use for diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, Individual educational plans (IEP), personal injury cases, and forensic cases (school). 

 

Dr. Chou has made numerous presentations at professional training seminars and community churches. She was interviewed by Chinese television stations to comment on issues such as campus shootings, cyber addictions, celebrity sex scandals, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Dr. Chou has years of experience in conducting AD/HD children’s group, children ‘s grief group, and parenting group(Chinese/English). Dr. Chou is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese.

Outside of Dr. Chou's professional roles, Dr. Chou enjoys traveling, watching documentaries on various culture and food, and most of all, spending time with her family. She is not ashamed to admit that she is a hello kitty fan and will always be.
